History

The South African Association for Water User Associations SAAFWUA), a national body of associations established by Local Water Management Institutions (Water User Associations and Irrigation Boards) (LWMI) for LWMI. The Association was founded in 2004 by a small group of LWMI and has now expanded to 121 members , with the possibility to include an additional 100+ in the industry.

Organisational Structure

  • Management Committee: At the top of the organizational structure is usually a board of directors or a governing body responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing the operations of SAAFWUA. The board consists of elected or appointed individuals who provide leadership and guidance to the association.

  • Executive Management/Secretariat: SAAFWUA may has an executive management team responsible for day-to-day operations and implementing the strategic goals set by the board. This team consists of a CEO, COO, and secretary

  • Regional Chapters: SAAFWUA has regional chapters or committees representing different geographical areas or specific interests within the association. These regional entities facilitate localized engagement, coordination, and representation of member interests at the regional level.
